If you don’t already know, I am greek and I loveeee me some greek food but it isn’t always the healthiest choice haha. Tzatziki is a greek sauce usually served with gyros, grilled meats, or pita bread, some make it with sour cream and others make it with greek yogurt. We are going to use organic greek yogurt, lemon, garlic, salt, pepper, cucumber & olive oil. This sauce is super simple to make, made from staple ingredients, and gives any meal a rich, fresh, hearty flavor. I use it as a dip for vegetables, as a spread on top of bean burgers, sandwiches and wraps, or the perfect pair to some stuffed collard greens!
So while I was throwing this recipe together I wasn’t expecting much, I just wanted a sauce for my stuffed collard greens! Oh man, let me tell you, did this taste like it came straight out of Greece! I was kind of impressed, my yiayia would be proud… and yes it was Savva approved!
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: Stir all together – about 2 minutes
Total Time: 12 minutes
1 garlic clove (finely minced)
1/2 a cup of organic greek yogurt
Juice of 1/2 of a medium lemon
1/2 tsp of pepper
1/4 tsp of sea salt (you can always add more if needed)
2 slices of cucumber finely diced
1 tbsp olive oil
Dill – is an option to add as well I’m just not a fan of dill in my tzatziki thats why I did’t add it
Stir all ingredients together until combined, adjust ingredients if needed.
