My Newborn Must-Haves
As a new mom I didn’t know where to start when it came to my baby registry! There are SO many products out there, the list goes on and on! You will never know what will end up working for you and your baby, it is honestly a guessing game as well as process of elimination. Below is my personal newborn must haves and why, aside from the staple products like carseat, stroller onesies, etc. Hopefully this list can help you in registering as well as making a leap or not in a purchase!
Dock-A-Tot (MY #1 MUST HAVE)
I truly think every mother/family will get great use out of this purchase, it is so helpful in so many ways! Antoni loved it from the moment I laid him in it. I think the snug feeling mimics the womb and that’s why he likes it so much. I don’t like to have him out of my sight and having the Dock-A-Tot has made it so easy for me to bring him into every room, with out having to move a large bassinet. Cooking in the kitchen, folding clothes in the laundry room, organizing my closet in my bedroom is possible because of the Dock-A-Tot.
I feel safe having him in it as well. I don’t ever recommend sleeping with your baby but there has been a couple times where I have accidentally fallen asleep next to him in it and it is just so comforting waking up to him in the Dock rather than just laying in bed with me. I have a friend who I got the Dock-A-Tot for and she said it is the only thing her baby will sleep in!
It is also really easy to clean, I bought two covers just to have another one while cleaning the one. There are two sizes; Deluxe + (ages 0-8 months) and the Grand (ages 9-36 months). I will 100% move onto the Grand once need be.
This was a big purchase for us, we couldn’t decide if we wanted to invest or not, but THANK YOU LAWD we did!
The Snoo Smart Sleeper is the first “smart” bassinet created by Dr. Harvey Karp (pediatrician and author of Happiest Baby on the Block) and Yves Behar, a industrial designer. The Snoo is equipped with sound sensors, wifi, speakers that deliver varying types of white noise, and a robotic motor that rocks your baby at different levels of intensity in response to any noise (from the baby) the sensors detect. It soothes, monitors and responds to your baby’s needs. It chooses the best white noise and motion to boost sleep – or calm midnight meltdowns – all while keeping baby in the safest position, on his back. The Snoo rocking motions won’t start until the baby is swaddled and the swaddle is clipped on correctly.
I read reviews and reviews on The Snoo Smart Sleeper and besides the fact that it is known to be the safest bassinet and helps boost both yours and baby’s sleep, what helped me finally take the plunge was that we had a 30 day trial to see if The Snoo was the right fit for our family.
And boy, It definitely was! The first two weeks of having Antoni home he would sleep through out the day and wake up every 2 hours to eat. I would only put Antoni in the Snoo at night and when I would, he would give me one solid 4 hour long sleep. Then the past month he went from 4 hours straight to 7 hours straight. Just the past few days he started to sleep 9 hours straight from when I would put him to bed!
First two weeks: 4 hours straight at night
Week 3-7: 7 hours straight at night
Starting 2nd Month: 9 hours straight
Just last weekend we went out of town and we couldn’t take The Snoo and Antoni went back to waking up every 2-3 hours. That proved to us that it really does help drastically!
I love this brand so much, design & function! I have four of their diaper bags (Brown, Gray, Cara Loren collab and Brown mini) and three different changing clutches (Navy, Wine and Cara Loren collab)! The diaper bags are so spacious with a total of 12 pockets: 6 outside, 6 inside including a zipper pocket. There is also a keychain hook on the inside so you don’t have to spend hours looking for your keys. I can fit everything I need and more in my Fawn diaper bag.
The faux leather changing clutch is amazing! I have a few spread through out my house and in my diaper bag. The changing pad comes in a faux leather clutch which is also great to hold little nick nacks. Both diaper bag and changing pad are easily wipeable. I also dont feel like I’m wearing a diaper bag, I feel like I’m wearing cute new purse.
Baby Brezza Formular Pro & Sterilizer
If you aren’t nursing, the Baby Brezza Formula Pro has been my life saver! It heats up the water, mixes the powder and dispenses as many ounces as I say I need. The Baby Brezza sterilizer has also been super convenient. I toss all bottles and pacifiers in and it sterilizes then, no need for me to boil water etc. etc.
I can’t tell you how much use I get out of my Moby wraps! It took me a little bit to get use to them, I always thought they were wrapped too tight or he was going to fall out but it just took me a few times wearing them to get comfortable with it. Now I wear the wraps at my house picking things up or going grocery shopping. For me, it is much more convenient to wear him than pull out his whole stroller just to make a quick run.
Pampers pure wipes are my go to! They are always super moist in comparison to other brands I have used. The first week Antoni got a rash on his bum. One, because I was a psycho new mom wiping him 100 times making sure he was clean lol but also because the wipes I was using weren’t moist enough and they were rubbing him raw.
Sink baths will be your go to, especially after a massive poo explosion. After I received this little bath pad for the sink, it made life so much easier and more comfortable for Antoni and it was easy for me to bath him anywhere.
I love this little machine, I strap it to his carseat when we are driving or his stroller and it really does help sooth him.
Our Antoni is a pacifier lover so having this clip to make sure it doesn’t fall on the ground has been a life saver! I specially like this clip by Ryan and Rose because it is also a teether.
